I finished my preschool assistant job at Saint Philomena School in Portsmouth, RI back in June and went on to be the art instructor for a private summer sports club at Bailey's beach in Newport. Here, I planned and taught art lessons to children ages 3 to 13, and held a family art night near the end of the summer, where we displayed work from every child and invited the families to celebrate all the beautiful work their child had accomplished.
When the summer had ended, I became the Kindergarten teacher for a KinderCare Learning Center in Burlington, MA, which is where I currently teach a class of 10 Kindergarteners. In the position, I have been able to "stretch my legs" as a teacher and really take charge of a classroom. I am in charge of every aspect concerning the classroom, from cleaning and organizing, to creating the lessons, to carrying out the lessons, and planning parent/teacher conferences. I have also been able to integrate the visual arts into all subjects I am teaching to my class, which has benefited the children in multiple ways, but has also improved my teaching experience.
